A parent is always there
This is the most important rule of HypnoKids. A parent or guardian books the session, gives informed consent, and stays in the room for every minute of every session. Kelly does not work with children alone, even online. You will hear everything that is said and can pause the session at any time.
Being present also helps you support the practice afterward. Children often like a grown-up to do the breathing or story with them at bedtime, and knowing the language Kelly used makes that easy.
What HypnoKids sessions help with
Parents often reach out about worries before school or tests, trouble settling at bedtime, nail biting or thumb sucking, nerves before a game or recital, and fears of things like the dark, dogs or doctor visits. Sessions focus on giving the child a sense of capability and a simple tool they can use themselves.
HypnoKids is not a treatment for medical or mental health conditions, learning differences or behavioral diagnoses. If your child has ongoing difficulties, please involve their pediatrician or a licensed child mental health provider. Hypnosis can sometimes sit alongside that care, with their input.
What a session looks like
Sessions are shorter than adult sessions and much more playful. Kelly might invite your child to imagine a favorite place, a brave animal helper, or a dial that turns worry down. Children can keep their eyes open, fidget, or hold a stuffed animal. Stillness is not required for hypnosis to happen.
Kelly checks in with your child in simple language and with you as the parent. Each session ends with a small practice your child can take home, such as a breathing game, a calming picture or a short phrase they chose themselves.
Setting up at home
Choose a quiet room with a comfortable spot for your child and a seat for you nearby. A tablet or laptop on a table works better than a handheld phone. Turn off other screens and let siblings know this is a quiet time.
Some children are shy on camera at first. That is fine. Kelly takes time to say hello, may chat about pets or favorite things, and lets the child decide how close to sit. Familiar surroundings usually help children relax faster than an unfamiliar office would.
Starting with a parent consult
Before any session with your child, you and Kelly meet for a free 15-minute consult. You will talk about what is going on, your child's age and interests, any care they already receive, and whether HypnoKids seems like a good fit. Fees are shared on that call.
Kelly may suggest that some concerns are better addressed by a pediatrician or a licensed child mental health provider first. If HypnoKids does make sense, you will plan the first session together.
